Dear ASV Members,

We are currently seeking nominations for the Association of Shelter Veterinarians’ Board of Directors. Directors are elected at the ASV annual meeting, which occurs at the ABVP Symposium. These terms are for 3 years and will begin in October 2017. As an ASV Board member, you will be asked to participate in conference calls and Board emails throughout the year, participate in one in-person Board meeting and the ASV General Membership meeting (these in-person meetings take place at the annual ABVP Symposium - travel is not provided), and contribute to committees and projects to advance the work of ASV. This is your opportunity to help mold the future of the ASV!

The minimum requirement to serve as a board member is at least two years membership in the ASV. Participation in ASV committee work, attendance of annual meetings, and demonstration of leadership and advocacy will also be considered by the Nominations Committee when submitting a recommended slate of nominees to the Board. Ideally, the ASV Board strives to represent all regions of the US as well as the varied aspects of shelter medicine, including animal shelters, public health agencies, national humane organizations, and academia among others. Additional consideration will be given to other skills that members may possess that would benefit ASV, including financial planning, fundraising, or legal expertise
Interested individuals should send a letter of intent and curriculum vitae via email to Dr. Lesa Staubus, chair of the committee, at  In addition, a list of references or letters of recommendation may be sent at the discretion of the applicant. Applications are due August 1, 2017.

We hope you will consider joining us!
